The FUNNY MIX Game helps struggling readers too!
I have taught children to read for 50 years. One of the games I find children continuously love is FUNNY MIX. Whether I’m tutoring a child with dyslexia, autism or other struggling reader, FUNNY MIX helps the children learn because they love the superhero characters! I love the superhero names because they consist of short vowels and long vowels. I recently worked with an autistic student who immediately understood that the short vowels are colored green, the long vowels are blue, and the silent letters are all under water so they can’t be heard. Autistic children are very rule-oriented, as we know. I am convinced The FUNNY MIX game taught him to read because his reading took off at that point.
